You may remember me from my previous blog, Tim’s Take, or you may have seen my writing on LAist, or you may have just tripped over a link from Google, Yahoo! or Bing and somehow landed here. You may have also heard me alongside Caleb Bacon on The Gentlemen’s Club.
Regardless of how you got here, I want you to feel welcome. Take your shoes off, put your feet up. Stay a while. I’ll get you a frosty beverage. While I’m doing that feel free to browse around, we’ve got a little bit of everything going on here at It’s the Tim Show . If you want to find out more about me, check out the links below. Feel free to send me an email with questions, concerns, and tips.

That didn’t stop Him either. When the game ended, He (yes capital H) chose to walk on the Mississippi River back to Minnesota rather than take the team flight.

Gentlemen,

This week we welcome New York Magazine Contributing Editor and Deadspin’s Founding Editor Will Leitch into The Gentlemen’s Club. The man who introduced us to Chris Berman’s ability to pickup leather pant-clad females and the all-seeing eye of Carl Monday took some time talk about his new sports blog, emails from Rick Ankiel’s wife, negative comments from members of A Tribe Called Quest and of course Erin Andrews and the infamous peep hole video.

Be sure to follow Leitch on Twitter and Tumblr.

We’re also excited to bring Onyx, who will be performing at VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors tomorrow night, to The Gentlemen’s Club. The Mad Face Invasion took a break from making a million children SLAM to talk to us about their new album, Black Rock (and the controversy over that name), getting in the octagon fighting MMA like DMX (yes you read that correctly), and what would happen if they got interrupted by Kanye.

Thanks Kanye for letting me finish because we’ve got more. This week, we’ve also got a Gentlemen’s Theory from Bacon about karate.

We’re also going to introduce to a concept we like to call the Oh-Line, it’s got to do with your boy who thinks Sandra Oh’s beautiful just because she’s Asian. Don’t worry we’ve got your other boy who thinks Brooke Hogan’s hot just because she’s blonde covered; and your other boy who’s into Latin flavor who loves Michelle Rodriguez.

You need some new friends and you need to listen to this week’s show.

Gentlemen,

You know Anna David from G4’s Attack of the Show f/ Olivia Munn. Anna is their Sex and Relationship Expert. You also might know her writing from Details mag — or somewhere else cool. She’s all over, she’s sexy, and suggests Hammer might stop hanging around the UCLA freshman dorms.

Author (and Cardinals Fan?) Matthew DeKinder serves up this week’s (Just The…) Gentlemen’s Tip on how to avoid sports for a frickin’ year. Apparently something that silly is do-able.

Tim Hammer has this week’s Gentlemen’s Theory which explores the female anatomy, and looks at The Profane Areola. The topic is SFW.

The Gentlemen’s Rule returns. It’s on how to end a phone call with confidence… the opposite of what you’re now doing.

And the Gentlemen of the Week is a long-time subscriber to Big ‘Uns Magazine:

I am lucky enough to say I saw Micheal Jordan play in person. Unfortunately, most of the memories I have of that game have little to do with Jordan.

The date was November 7, 2001.

My roommate Jeff’s brother Dan had an extra ticket for the Celtics/Wizards game at what was then called the Fleet Center and offered it to me. Without hesitation, I said yes because after all this was a chance to see Michael Jordan play in person. Granted it was a 38 year-old Michael Jordan, but I didn’t have the chance to see MJ in person the first time around, when he was absolutely the greatest basketball player alive.

I was in my fourth year at Northeastern, which would be called “Senior Year” at most other colleges and universities in the world but at Northeastern this was called “Junior Year.” It’s a five-year school because of the very famous co-op program, which involves students spending half of the school year working an internship in their selected field.

Since I was an English major… I worked at a shoe store, well not just any shoe store it was Niketown. So I told people I was doing an internship with Nike.

Earlier that day while taking my lunch break from my “internship with Nike” I was eating in the Prudential Center food court (my love of food courts goes way back) and ended up leaving my wallet on the table.

Fortunately, the wallet wasn’t holding my ticket to the game (Dan had it). But it was holding pretty much everything else I’d need to live including cash. I went back to the Prudential Center to look for it but it was gone.

Thankfully, Jeff spotted me a buck for the T ride on the green line from our Mission Hill apartment to the Fleet Center. (How much does a ride on the T cost today?) We took our seats in the very top of the 300 level of what is now the TD Garden or something like that. Not sure which row we were in, but let’s just say there weren’t too many people sitting behind us. Our view wasn’t great but we were in the same building as Mike.

We also were in the same building as: Richard Hamilton, Chris Whitney, Tyrone Nesby and Christian Laettner. Those were the other four guys in the Wizards’ starting lineup. I didn’t remember that off the top of my head, that’s what Basketball-Reference.com is for.

I did vividly recall Laettner’s involvement in the game though and not because he scored 29 points. Seriously Laettner scored 29 points in a game that wasn’t held at Cameron Indoor Stadium? I remember the former Dukie’s participation game because one of the young ladies sitting in front of us spent most of her night yelling, “I FUCKING HATE CHRISTIAN LAETTNER!” You’ve got to love the classy ladies of Boston.

As far as the game itself goes, I only remembered two things: 1) Wizards lost and 2) Jordan got rejected by Paul Pierce at a critical moment in the game.

I completely forgot that Jordan scored 32 points and that Antoine Walker scored 31. Thanks Basketball-Reference.com. If you would have asked me how many points the 38 year-old Jordan dropped in that game I might have said 10 or 12 points.

My memory of that night go beyond the court, the same way Mike’s legacy went well beyond the court.
